Our Carpenter Club program is a way to make sure that home building is making a difference in Clay and Yankton County! Carpenter Club donations stay local and are utilized in our building fund to provide homes for families in need. You designate your level of participation through your donation.

Material & Nonmonetary Items
Habitat accepts nonmonetary items as donations at anytime. Items are then used in projects or sold so that funds are available to help fund our mission to provide homes for families in need. Take a look at our material donation guidelines below then contact us to donate today.
Must be clean and in 100% working order. Must have all knobs, trays, burners, shelves, etc. Please include owner’s manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation. Refrigerator, freezer, stove, vent hood, washer, dryer. Clean, working; less than 10 years. No Dishwasher. No Wall or Double Oven. No Microwave. No Garbage Disposals.
We accept cabinets for kitchens and bathrooms. They can be the whole set or individual cabinets. We also accept medicine cabinets and countertops. Cabinets: doors/drawers attached. Clean, less than 20 years. Countertops only with kitchen cabinets. Cabinets: No paint, rot, not water damage, no mold. Countertops: no cracks, no holes or cutouts, no laminate.
We accept doors if they are in clean, working condition. They must not have holes, cracks, rot, etc. It is best to have the door knobs removed and bagged. Interior and exterior – wood and metal, bi-fold, glass. No hollow core, shower, painted, or mirrored doors. No garage doors or openers.
We will accept carpeting if it does not have stains or worn areas. We do not accept shag carpet. We will accept new vinyl, tile, new laminate, new and reclaimed hardwood. Vinyl must be 8’x6′ and larger, please write size on the back with permanent marker, remove fasteners. Tile must be clean, unbroken 1 box minimum. No used laminate, no used vinyl.
Framed mirrors, new rugs or professionally cleaned, dressers, end tables, dining tables, chairs mattresses (have right to refuse). Must be in clean working condition. No used window coverings. No vertical blinds. No unframed mirror or glass. No futons. No Entertainment Centers. No Sofa Beds. (If space is limited may refuse until space is available.)
Air Conditioners, Furnaces, Central Air Systems, Water Heaters. Residential Only. Seasonally Accepted.
We accept light fixtures in clean, working condition, less than 20 years. No fluorescent bulbs or fixtures. No brass/gold/yellow. No rust. No light bulbs. No track lighting.
We accept full and half sheets of plywood and sheetrock. We accept full lengths of lumber. We will accept trim in smaller pieces, but not less than 4 feet long. No rot or nails/screws sticking out of lumber. No used deck lumber. No damage.
We accept 4 feet and over of any type of pipe, and all supplies and fittings. No Glued pieces or broken parts. No water softeners.
We accept sinks good condition and clean. No tubs or showers (don’t have room) No cast iron. We accept toilets only if they are in new, clean, working condition and are the low flush (1.6 gallon) type. (They must be very clean!) We will not take a dirty toilet under any circumstances.
We accept most roofing material donations on a case by case basis. Shingles must be bundled in complete packages. Metal roofing, guttering, soffit, etc. should be in full lengths if possible. We will not accept rusty, bent or damaged pieces. New siding, maximum 16 feet long. New insulation. Clean. Seasonally accepted April through October (if room is available). No used gutters or shutters. No garage doors or openers.
Tools-Lawn and Garden Equipment
All lawn and garden equipment, as well as hand and power tools, must be in 100% working condition and include all parts /pieces. Aluminum or fiberglass ladders. Lawn furniture and grills (are seasonal April to October) No recalled items. No rust. No stationary large power tools. No table saws. No radial arm saws. No Wooden Ladders.
We accept double pane windows (glass must be intact). No sashes please! New complete units with all sashes and frames. Metal screens. No single pane. Please call before bringing them.
