Customer Service Assistant
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Customer Service Assistant position is responsible for providing customer service in the ReStore. The first and last smiling face customers see as they enter and exit the store, promoting a friendly, energetic attitude, as being an ambassador for Habitats’ mission. They must represent the organization favorably within the community, develop and maintain good relationships with customers, donors, volunteers, and partners. Attitude is everything!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Welcome customers/donors as they enter the Restore
- Assisting customers by answering questions and enhancing the shopping experience
- Opening / Closing Procedures for the cash register
- Accurately ringing up customers transactions, handling cash and processing credit card transactions
- Issuing receipts to each customer; adhering Hold/Sold tags as applicable
- Keeping all credit info, sales data and donor information confidential
- Answer incoming phone calls / Make follow up phone calls
- Help maintain cleanliness and safety of the sales floor and cashier working areas
- Resolve customer complaints and ask for assistance when needed
- Successfully complete daily tasks at the restore
- Follow all Habitat and ReStore policies and procedures
- Ability to screen product being donated
- Assist with marketing needs for HFHCYC website, social media presence and other platforms
- Attends and provides support at ReStore committee meetings
- Processes gifts, prepares and sends thank you notes, donation receipts, and pledge reminders
- Provides daily administrative support including answering phone, mail, distribution, and filing
- Performs related duties as required but not articulated
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, email systems and web research
- Quality customer service, time management, leadership, and team skills
- Work values should reflect that of a Christian housing ministry
- Ability to take initiative on tasks, anticipates and sets priorities, and meets deadlines
- Ability to keep highly sensitive personal and financial information confidential
- Strong public speaking and development of presentations
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to delegate work and instruct volunteers
- Must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to multi-task
- Must have the ability to travel when needed, which requires a valid drivers license, insurance and access to a vehicle
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:\
- Ability to stand/walk on concrete surface for a long period
- Ability to work in a warehouse setting subject to heat, cold, dust, etc
- Ability to lift 30-50lbs; carry 20lbs; push 50lbs; pull 50lbs
- Ability to stoop or kneel to properly move merchandise;
- Ability to climb a ladder
- Reports to: Executive DirectorHours: 20-30 hours of work per week with occasional Saturday and evening hours.
