How we help
Habitat for Humanity of Clay and Yankton Counties is often looking for ways to expand our programs so that we can assist even more people in need of a “hand up” in both counties. Currently, Homeownership is our main program, but we are looking at expanding into more programs such as A Brush of Kindness and a Resale Store.

Homeownership
Habitat for Humanity of Clay and Yankton County builds homes in partnership with qualifying partner families and the community. We then sell the homes at no profit with zero percent interest mortgages to partnering families. Those families also receive financial and homeowner counseling to prepare them to become successful homeowners. Habitat is the builder, the banker and a bridge bringing communities together to make a difference !

A Brush of Kindness
Still in the making, “A Brush of Kindness” is a program that helps preserve homeownership by partnering with homeowners struggling to restore and maintain a safe and decent place to live. Those eligible for this program will see a caring volunteer group come alongside and assist them in completing minor repairs, painting, and other home maintenance. Watch for more information as we work to get this program setup.

ReStore Program
Habitat for Humanity of Clay and Yankton Counties has a Resale Store which is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Our Resale Store is proudly owned and operated by us and the proceeds from this store are used to build homes, community, and hope locally. Our Habitat for Humanity Resale Store is located in downtown Yankton at 218 Capitol Street. We also list many items utilizing Facebook! If you would like to donate items for us to sell in our store, please review our Donation Guidelines, then reach out to us to donate.
The programs that Habitat for Humanity of Clay and Yankton Counties offers make sure that we are making a difference in both counties! Contact us on ways you can become involved in any of our programs.
