Volunteering with Habitat

Volunteer your time

Volunteers are at the heart of Habitat for Humanity of Clay and Yankton Counties and are brought together each year through our programs. These volunteers include individuals, congregations, corporations, youth groups and school groups. You too can get involved on a regular basis by signing up to help as your schedule allows. Volunteer opportunities can include building homes, repairing homes, painting, landscaping and participating in committees or helping in the Habitat office, but our biggest draw of volunteers is for our build sites. When you work with us on a Habitat Home you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of phases of construction!

  • Individual Volunteers

Whether it’s construction, home repair or various other duties, one-day or on-going, we have many opportunities that may be of interest to you! Contact Us or use our Volunteer Sign-up Form located on the right to let us know you are interested in volunteering!

  • Corporate Volunteers

Corporations and Businesses that partner with Habitat for Humanity are helping to eliminate poverty housing and build a stronger community. These businesses sometimes commit money and/or volunteers to help build, repair and rehab homes alongside hard-working families. As a business volunteering you will enjoy great team-building opportunities for your employees, public recognition for your business and promotion of your commitment to Habitat.

  • Congregations

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry. We are called by our faith in God to serve families in need with generosity, humility and love. God’s love extends to all people, which is why we build homes with, and for, people of all races, faiths and backgrounds. We also welcome people of all faith backgrounds and beliefs to join us in our common goal. Your congregation can help in many ways by organizing volunteers to work or donating funds to support our projects. If you are interested in getting your congregation involved in some manner, Contact Us or use our Volunteer Sign-up Form located on the right to let us know you are interested in becoming a Habitat Partner!

  • Other Groups

Civic, Non-Profit, Youth Groups or other miscellaneous groups within our community also play a huge role in our mission. These partnerships that are formed help Habitat for Humanity make owning a home a reality for our Habitat Families. We welcome your energy and enthusiasm for not only creating awareness of the need for decent housing for all people, but also donating in any form that you can. Contact Us to discuss how your group/organization can become a Habitat Partner through volunteering.
